The International Students Association at York (ISAY) represents international students and exchange students at York University. ISAY focuses on helping to create, strengthen, and sustain a safe space for international students to address their concerns; ISAY works to promote, coordinate, and direct activities that seek to forge intercultural student communication. In particular, ISAY focuses on reintroducing International students into the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) after they were excluded from it in 1994. International students who pay 3 to 4 times higher tuition fees are subjected to even more financial burdens, for many hospitals and medical clinics will refuse to accept University Health Insurance Plan.
